During the pandemic, food assistance programs were developed for the most vulnerable, including those immigrants considered essential workers. Now that the end of the public health emergency has been decreed, this aid has also decreased although it is still needed. In California, several legislators proposed two initiatives so that low-income undocumented families can apply for food aid without being considered a public charge.
