Thousands of people were expected to take to the streets on Saturday as part of a nationwide grassroots movement to protest the Trump administration policies that target communities of color, civil liberties and the rule of law. This is a report on the highlights of the day.

Sanders, AOC Tour. As part of a national tour called “Fighting the Oligarchy,” Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and Sen. Bernie Sanders have drawn massive crowds in deep-red enclaves around the West. Tens of thousands have gathered in Salt Lake City, UT; Nampa, ID; and Bakersfield, CA. What’s the message of the progressive leaders? What’s the expected impact of the tour?

Planning for May Day. Young grassroots Latino leaders from around the U.S. gathered at a summit in Los Angeles to denounce President Trump’s mass deportation policies and agree on coordinated resistance actions on May Day and beyond. This segment captures emblematic stories about community survival and organizing shared by some of the delegates.
