Veterans are abusing alcohol at higher rates since the Covid-19 pandemic. Studies also show that veterans are more likely to binge drink or abuse alcohol or suffer from mental health disorders than the rest of the population. Often, substance abuse pushes veterans to attempt suicide. In this Memorial Holiday and Mental Health Month edition experts discuss these trends, the reasons behind, the triggers, the challenges, and the treatments available, including the use of psychedelic-assisted therapies and traditional healing and medicine practices.
