Some 2,000 Migrants Head North in a Caravan Towards the US
TUESDAY, JULY 23
PROGRAM #10446 12:00 PM PT
Immigration Edition.
A caravan of some 2,000 migrants is heading towards the US-Mexico border. The group, which includes children and babies, began their journey in Chiapas this week in an attempt to cross the border ahead of the November elections fearing what could be an eventual Donald Trump win. Also, President Biden recently announced that about half a million of long-term undocumented immigrants who are married to US citizens will be eligible to apply for parole in place and be protected from deportation. Who is eligible? When to apply? What to do now? How to avoid scams? Immigration experts comment on these stories and answer listener questions.
Guests: Rosalba Piña, Immigration Attorney, Chicago, IL; Raúl Vera, Reporter, The Associated Press, Tapachula, Chiapas, MX; Óscar Chacón, Co‐founder and Executive Director, Alianza Americas, Chicago, IL.
