PROGRAM # 9989 12:00 PM PT
The Climate Crisis and Farming.
Veteran farm workers who are being trained in organic farming join this edition to discuss new and sustainable ways to work the land in the face of increasing extreme weather disasters. As Congress negotiates the 2023 Farm Bill, the largest government investment to US food and agriculture, what can the new farm bill do to help small farmers reduce drought and flood risks, cut down farm-related greenhouse emissions, protect soil, air and water, promote resilient and productive farmlands, and create programs that benefit farmers and climate? This edition is part of the series “Cuando se seca el arroyo…”
Guests: Maria Ana Reyes, Farmer, Narci Organic Farms, Salinas, CA; Jose Oliva, Campaigns Director, HEAL Food Alliance, Chicago, IL
