PROGRAM #10671 12:00 PM PT
Fair Fish Initiatives.
The Fair Food Program, a groundbreaking partnership between growers, farmworkers, and food company buyers to improve conditions for farmworkers, is being watched by leaders in the seafood industry. Now Florida’s farmworker leaders are sharing advice with fisheries in Scotland and Ireland interested in launching Fair Fish initiatives to promote fair labor practices in the fishing and seafood processing industry. They have also visited Chile, where salmon farming is bigger than all of Chile’s industries except copper mining, and is poorly regulated against pollution.
Guests: Lucas Benitez, Coordinator and Co-Founder, Coalition of Immokalee Workers, Immokalee, FL; Rosa Nuñez Aros, Chile Coordinator, Fair Food Program, City of Puerto Montt, Los Lagos, CHILE, today from Thailand.
