Sin Fronteras: Chávez Legacy

By Radio Bilingüe
Published March 27, 2025

THURSDAY, MARCH 27

PROGRAM #10727 12:00 PM PT

Sin Fronteras. This is a program of “Sin Fronteras,” a special series to serve audiences in Mexico City and other Mexican state capitals with breaking news and analysis about major developments impacting Latinos in the US.

Chávez Legacy.

On the occasion of Cesar Chavez Day celebrations, Dr. José Angel Gutiérrez, one of the four leading figures during the Chicano Movement, is in California’s Central Valley to honor the legacy of Cesar Chávez, Dolores Huerta, and Larry Itliong, founders of the modern farmworker movement. He talks about that legacy at a time when histories on Latinos are being removed from public spaces.

Guest: Dr. José Angel Gutiérrez, Attorney, Professor, Chicano Movement and Civil Rights Leader, Turlock, CA.

Is ICE Illegally Arresting People? Civil rights lawyers sued the Trump administration accusing federal agents of violating the rights of a US citizen and 21 others during arrests in Chicago and the Midwest. A legal expert explains the accusations.

Guest: TBA.

Deportation Worries. About one in three adults in all immigrant families expressed worries about doing one or more essential activities such as driving, talking to police, seeking health care services, or taking their children to school or daycare. Even families with no undocumented members, where everyone is a US citizen or has a green card, said they were worried about deportations. This is what researchers found after surveying people in immigrant families.

Guest: Dulce Gonzalez, Senior Research Associate, Health Policy Center, Urban Institute, Chicago, IL.

Measles Spreading. The measles outbreak that started in Texas has spread to New Mexico and Oklahoma. Experts fear that if the number of unvaccinated people continues to grow, measles may become a national epidemic. What’s the current toll? Why is the disease resurging? Why has the rate of vaccination in Texas dropped so much? How to tackle these outbreaks? A doctor responds to misinformation on measles shots.

Guests: TBA.
