Why do Many Pregnant Latinas Fail to Get Mental Health Treatment?

Four out of every ten Latinas who give birth have experienced mental health disorders, such as postpartum depression. But studies show most do not receive medical attention. Mothers in rural areas, such as California’s Central Valley, face additional challenges, including the stigma of seeking mental health services. Daniela Rodriguez spoke with a mother who suffered from depression throughout her pregnancies and tells her story of resilience from Tulare, California.
