Polymetabolic Endocrine Ovarian Syndrome and the Difficult Path to Pregnancy

What was known until a few days ago as polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) is now called polyendocrine metabolic ovarian syndrome (PMOS), a chronic condition that affects thousands of Latina women and is degenerative and incurable. Furthermore, it can cause infertility and is difficult to diagnose. Women in California’s Central Valley face limited access to specialists and high healthcare costs, making it difficult to receive a timely diagnosis. Daniela Rodríguez spoke with a woman living with this hormonal disorder about the challenges of pregnancy. She shares her story from Fresno.
