Oregon Governor Rejects Deployment of National Guard in Portland

President Donald Trump’s decision to mobilize more than 200 National Guard troops to Oregon’s largest city was immediately rejected by Democratic Governor Tina Kotek. The president justified the military deployment to bring order to what he called “a lawless city” and protect ICE agents from an alleged “radical left” demanding the closure of an immigration center. However, elected officials, local leaders, and activists reject this narrative, believing Trump is overstepping his presidential power, as Tania Gomezdaza reports from Portland.
