Interview with the filmmakers of The Age of Water, a film soon to premiere on PBS that tells the story of La Cantera, a community in Guanajuato struggling with health problems linked to radioactive contamination of its aquifers after agribusiness companies producing intensive export crops for the United States drained these vital water reserves. Also, a journalist reports on the case of Ismael “El Mayo” Zambada, who changed his plea from “not guilty” to “guilty” on drug trafficking charges in a New York court, acknowledging that for “more than 50 years” he led the Sinaloa Cartel criminal organization, meaning he faces a mandatory minimum term of life imprisonment without parole.
