WEDNESDAY, FEBRUARY 25
PROGRAM #11061 12:00 PM PT
Línea Abierta at 31.
Today is the 31st anniversary of Línea Abierta —the first and only Spanish-language national public radio news program that facilitates daily conversations with Latinos around the United States and Mexico. This special day invites a look at the present, a moment of profound challenges for bilingual journalism: efforts to erase Latino history, persecution of independent journalists providing eyewitness reporting, and attempts to distract and mislead the public with disinformation about immigrants, borders, Mexico, and more. Efforts to silence and push the most vulnerable communities into the shadows persist. In this context, what can audiences expect from our journalism?
Guests: Samuel Orozco, News Director, Radio Bilingüe, Fresno, CA; Gerardo Guzman, Program Host, Atlanta, GA; Chelis Lopez, Host, San Francisco, CA; Citlali Saenz, Host, Mexico City, MX.
