Budget Cuts Threaten San Francisco’s Pioneering Model for Combating HIV

San Francisco has long been celebrated as a pioneer in HIV care in the United States. However, this successful model is now in serious jeopardy because of federal budget cuts and the city’s budget deficit. Unless changes are made, thousands of people will lose access to medical care and treatment-related services. Sophia Rerucha spoke with a person living with HIV and with representatives of organizations affected by the cuts, and she reports from San Francisco.
