One year after Texas’s Dream Act was struck down — a law that for more than two decades allowed thousands of undocumented students to pay in-state tuition — the legal battle to restore it continues. Advocates warn that its elimination could severely limit access to higher education for thousands of young people and affect their families. Mariana Pineda spoke with one of these families and with organizations leading the fight for its reinstatement, and reports from Houston.
