Republicans are targeting multibillion-dollar cuts to the food assistance program, known as SNAP, as part of the debates on the Farm Bill. If the bill passes the Senate, millions of low-income families would be hit especially hard. Also at risk are the so-called “orphan programs” that support Latino farmers and ranchers who are concerned and have resumed lobbying on Capitol Hill.
