What’s Driving the Homeless Crisis?

By Radio Bilingüe
Published July 20, 2023

THURSDAY, JULY 20
PROGRAM #10072 12:00 PM PT

What’s Driving the Homeless Crisis? As cities urge the state to put more funds to address the epidemic of homelessness and as conservatives decry the loss of public spaces to the unhoused, a major study seeks to answer the question: “What drives California homeless crisis”? The study dispels common myths about the homeless in California. Who are the homeless in California? How affected are Latinos by this crisis? What happened to the Latino homeless paradox? Do homeless residents have the right to sleep in public? Is housing a human right?

Guests: Dalma Diaz, Health Equity Fellow, Homelessness and Health Care, California Health Care Foundation-CHCF, Los Angeles, CA; Yessica Hernandez Grijalva, Peer Organizer, Coalition On Homelessness, San Francisco, CA; Renatta Escobedo, Program manager, Youth Emergency Shelter, San Diego Youth Services, San Diego, CA.
