Vaccination, Health for All

THURSDAY, MARCH 12
PROGRAM #11076 11:00 AM PT
Vaccination, Health for All.
Childhood vaccination is once again at the center of public debate after the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention announced a reform to the immunization schedule that now recommends fewer vaccines. At the same time, several states are facing measles outbreaks, a highly contagious disease. In California’s Central Valley, where no major alerts have yet been reported, questions are emerging about access and prevention. Who is most at risk? Why is vaccination still essential? How can communities be protected from a virus that spreads quickly? This program is part of the series “Creciendo con Apoyo Latino: Radio Latina para la Salud Materno-Infantil,” with support from The David and Lucille Packard Foundation.
Guests: Dr. Trinidad Solis, Deputy Health Officer, Fresno County Department of Public Health, Fresno, CA; Dr. Lucía Abascal, Public Health Physician, California Department of Public Health, San Francisco, CA; Dr. Ilan Shapiro, Chief Health Correspondent and Medical Affairs Officer, AltaMed Health Services, Los Angeles, CA.
