The Committee to Protect Journalists awarded her the International Press Freedom Award, emphasizing that her case illustrates how immigration authorities are being used to silence critical voices. The End of TPS for Haiti. A federal judge confirmed that Haitian immigrants have lost their Temporary Protected Status, following the Supreme Court ruling that leaves more than 300,000 people in limbo with an imminent risk of deportation. The Trump administration argues that conditions in Haiti no longer justify the designation — even as it warns Americans against traveling there due to the risks of crime, kidnapping, and terrorism.
