The Vaquita Marina: Imminent Extinction.
Our contributor Víctor Rodríguez was honored with the Baja California State Literature Prize for his book Odisea por la Vaquita Marina — “Odyssey for the Vaquita Marina” — in which he tells the story of the rampant fishing predation that has pushed two endemic species of the Gulf of California to the edge of extinction: the prized totoaba and the vaquita marina, the world’s most endangered marine mammal. In this conversation, Rodríguez speaks about the uphill, emergency efforts underway to save these threatened species.
