The United States: 250 Years

FRIDAY, JULY 3
PROGRAM #11191 12:00 PM PT
The United States: 250 Years.
“We hold these truths to be self-evident: that all men are created equal…” So reads the Declaration of Independence, which marks its 250th anniversary. The commemoration arrives at a moment when the concepts of citizenship and national identity are at the center of political debate. Coinciding with this milestone, we launch with this program a special series to express our own “truths” as a community to reflect on what it means to be American, who counts as a citizen, how Mexicans and Latinos have redefined the identity of this nation, and what the future of the country looks like. Distinguished intellectual leaders and activists have been invited to take part in the conversation.
