The Salgado Case: Disinformation

By Radio Bilingüe
Published July 23, 2026

THURSDAY, JULY 23
PROGRAM #11216 12:00 PM PT

The Salgado Case: Disinformation.

Following the killing of Lorenzo Salgado at the hands of ICE agents in Houston, disinformation is spreading across social media — with false accounts of the circumstances of the crime and fabricated statements attributed to Mexico’s president. What narratives are circulating? What is known with certainty so far? And what impact is the disinformation having, and who is promoting it?

Guests: Christine Neumann-Ortiz, Executive Director, Voces de la Frontera, Milwaukee, WI; Wendy Selene Pérez, Freelance Journalist, Factchequeado, Dallas, TX.

Xavier Becerra, California Governor Candidate. In an exclusive interview, Democrat Xavier Becerra — who is vying for the California governorship against Republican Steve Hilton — speaks about the violence against immigrants and the blocking of federal investigations, his plans to restore health care access for those who have lost their insurance, and his commitment to keeping California as a line of defense against Trump’s policies.

Guests: Xavier Becerra, former U.S. Secretary of Health and Human Services, former Attorney General of California, former U.S. Congressman for Los Angeles and California Gubernatorial Candidate, Los Angeles, CA; Samuel Orozco, Radio Bilingüe’s News Director, Fresno, CA.

Yo Soy La Cumbia. Through the writing of journalists and musicians, the book Yo Soy La Cumbia traces the experience and legacy of iconic cumbia figures such as Mike Laure, Andrés Landero, and Los Corraleros de Majagual. It also tells the stories of artists who have shaped the music’s evolution: the sonideros, the cunetas, and the picoteros. A journalist presenting the book in Fresno discusses the work and invites cumbia lovers to celebrate the music with dance.

Guest: Adalberto “Betto” Arcos, cultural journalist, contributor to “Yo Soy La Cumbia,” Los Angeles, CA.
