The Legacy of Reverend Jackson.
The Rev. Jesse Jackson, a historic figure in the civil rights movement, died at 84. Jackson is credited with uniting broad multiracial coalitions across the United States around a firmly progressive agenda and with paving the way for the rise to the presidency of Barack Obama, the vice presidency of Kamala Harris, and today’s progressive movement led by Bernie Sanders. This program includes Jackson’s views on immigrant rights from interviews with Radio Bilingüe. In addition, Dolores Huerta, a historic labor and civil rights leader, shares memories of moments when they worked together in support of communities affected by agribusiness and political conservatism. This program is part of the “Thirty Years, Thirty Voices” series.
