With just weeks to go before the deadline to reach an agreement on the Farm Bill extension, negotiations are at a standstill, caught in the election cycle. Republican leaders are pushing to eliminate food subsidies and investments in climate-smart agriculture. Meanwhile, farming sectors are engaged in last-minute lobbying to increase support for small farmers and organic crops. Jose Lopez Zamorano visited Virginia’s agricultural fields and brings us this report from Washington, DC.
