Talented musicians celebrate the musical repertoire of the San Joaquín Valley. In this program, originally aired on July 10, 2025, artists speak about their cultural roots and the stories they tell through their songs. Master Juan Morales, a celebrated mariachi leader, reflects on his commitment to teaching and passing down musical tradition to new generations. Verónica Chávez and Mauro Carrera, of the group Los Fresnanitos, use son jarocho as a voice to resist and challenge social injustice. And Miguel Villegas Ventura, a trilingual Mixtec rapper known as “Una Isu,” explains how he blends Mixtec, Spanish, and English to challenge stereotypes and celebrate Indigenous pride.
