THURSDAY, OCTOBER 9
PROGRAM #10923 12:00 PM PT
Sin Fronteras. This is a program of “Sin Fronteras,” a special series to serve audiences in the US and Mexico with breaking news and analysis about major developments impacting Latinos in the US.
Shutdown Impact.

Just over a week into the federal government shutdown, analysts continue to assess its costs and consequences: suspended services, frozen payments, and thousands of workers left without pay. Regardless of how long the shutdown lasts, what will it mean in the short and long term? Who will bear the political fallout? And how might this crisis shape the outcome of the 2026 elections?
Guest: Maribel Hastings, Advisor, America’s Voice, Washington, DC.
Wartime Operation in Portland. The Republican-led White House has ordered the deployment of hundreds of National Guard troops to occupy what it calls a “war zone” in the Democratic-run city of Portland. In response, the Oregon state government has filed a lawsuit against Trump, urging the courts to halt the occupation. Why Portland? What is the mission of the troops? How is civil resistance organizing? And what are the initial consequences of this military deployment?
Guest: Vicky Falcón Vásquez, General Manager, Radio Poder, Woodburn, OR.
First Phase of a Peace Plan Between Gaza, Israel: What Next? As an agreement is reached for the first phase of a peace plan between Gaza and Israel, promoted by President Trump, and after Israel intercepted the Global Sumud Flotilla off the coast of Gaza as its crew attempted to break the blockade in the region, a Mexican journalist who was crew member on one of the vessels joins the program to comment on the efforts to bring humanitarian aid on the 48 ships in the flotilla, and on an international lawsuit soon to be filed after his arrest by Israeli forces. What were those last hours before the arrest like? How can the wounds left by the conflict be healed?
Guest: Ernesto Ledesma, Journalist and Director, Rompeviento TV, Former Coordinator, Center for Political Analysis and Social and Economic Research, Mexico City, MX. </>
