Mexico’s Lawsuit Against Gun Makers Blocked.

The U.S. Supreme Court rejected Mexico’s lawsuit against US weapon manufacturers, accusing them of looking the other way and enabling the trafficking and violence of drug cartels. What arguments led to the unanimous dismissal of the lawsuit? What legal or diplomatic avenues remain for Mexico?

Guest: Alejandro Celorio, Lawyer and former legal advisor to the Mexican Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Mexico City, MX.

Immigration Raids Hit Construction Industry. The US is going through a severe housing shortage, driving home prices and rents to record highs. One of the biggest obstacles is the lack of construction workers. Immigrants have been key in filling this gap, but new evidence shows that current immigration policies are hitting the industry. Texas and California are among the most impacted states.

Guest: Jorge González-Hermoso, Senior Research Associate, Housing and Communities Division, Urban Institute, Washington, DC.

13 Years of DACA. This week marks another anniversary of the program that transformed the lives of hundreds of thousands of “Dreamers.” Thanks to DACA, many were able to study and advance professionally. However, despite the protections, many still live in fear that the surge of immigration operations could lead to detention and deportation after something as simple as a traffic stop. What has impacted the lives of young adults who still live in uncertainty? What is the legacy of being a Dreamer?

Guest: Cristian Avila, National Programs Director, PoderLatinx, Phoenix, AZ.
