Sin Fronteras. This is a program of “Sin Fronteras,” a special series to serve audiences in the US and Mexico with breaking news and analysis about major developments impacting Latinos in the US.

Clash Between Trump and Prominent Veterans.
President Trump has called for prosecuting Democratic lawmakers for sedition and even sentencing them to death after they — all military veterans — released a video advising service members to refuse “illegal orders.” Analysts examine the video in contention, the Pentagon’s response, and the constitutional implications.
Guest: Félix Madrigal-Rodríguez, Texas State Commander, American GI Forum, and Vietnam Combat Veteran, Hidalgo County, TX.
Will the White House Save ACA Subsidies? As the deadline approaches for health insurance costs to skyrocket once tax credits expire, the White House is considering a temporary extension of Obamacare subsidies to support millions of affected consumers. These subsidies were at the center of the recent debate over the federal shutdown. What does the plan include? What restrictions does it carry? How are Democrats who championed this proposal responding?
Guest: Héctor Hernández-Delgado, Senior Attorney, National Health Law Program, Los Angeles, CA.
Silicosis Cases Surge in Construction Industry. Thousands of workers who cut engineered stone for kitchen countertops — many of them Latino — are exposed to hazardous levels of silica dust. Because engineered stone contains extremely high concentrations of the mineral, workers exposed to it are now dying more quickly. Despite existing workplace safety laws, cases are rising at an alarming rate. What is failing? What must be done? A journalist who investigated the issue in California reports her findings.
Guest: Farida Jhabvala-Romero, Labor Correspondent, KQED, San Francisco, CA.
Women: Winners at the Ballot Box. November 4 proved pivotal for Democratic women, especially those running for public office. Virginia elected its first woman governor, and New Jersey celebrated its second. Voters approved multiple measures expanding access to abortion, affordable housing, and childcare, benefitting women and LGBTQ+ communities. In California, women strongly backed Proposition 50. How crucial was the role of women in this election? What priorities define the agendas of the newly elected? How much of a counterweight can they offer to federal conservative policies?
Guest: Dr. Lisa García Bedolla, Vice Provost for Graduate Studies, Dean of the Graduate Division and Chancellor’s Professor, UC Berkeley School of Education, Berkeley, CA.
