Sin Fronteras. This is a program of “Sin Fronteras,” a special series to serve audiences in the US and Mexico with breaking news and analysis about major developments impacting Latinos in the US.

California and the Prop. 50 Campaign. California voters are preparing to vote on a special redistricting plan known as the Election Rigging Response Act. If approved, the measure would create five new districts less favorable to Republicans. Afterward, the state’s map would revert to one previously approved by an independent citizen commission. Republicans argue the plan is unfair. Democrats say it’s a way to prevent Texas and Trump from stealing control of Congress. This is a debate.
Guests: Sen. Maria Elena Durazo, California State Senator (D-Los Angeles), Sacramento, CA; Hector Barajas, Spokesperson “No on Prop. 50” Campaign, Sacramento, CA.
Will the Military Occupy Another City? President Trump is intensifying his calls to use military force against Democratic-led cities he claims are plagued by violence and crime. He says he will soon announce the next city where the National Guard will be deployed. Meanwhile, courts are weighing whether using military forces to implement domestic policies—such as deportations and policing—is constitutional. Are these cities truly in crisis? Is this about public safety or political interests?
Guest: María Oceja, Co-Founder y Organizer, Vecindarios 901, Memphis, TN.
New Mexico Leads on Child Care Access. Starting in November, New Mexico will become the first state in the U.S. to provide free child care for all families, regardless of income. The measure could save thousands of dollars per child each year. How will the program be funded? How will it work? How can families apply? What can other states learn from New Mexico’s model in the absence of a federal universal child care system?
Guest: Merline Gallegos, Director, Kelly’s Learning Academy, Las Cruces, NM.
