By Radio Bilingüe
Published July 14, 2025

MONDAY, JULY 14
PROGRAM #10834 12:00 PM PT

Radio Bilingüe cumple 45.

July 4th marked the 45th anniversary of Radio Bilingüe’s first live broadcast. It was the culmination of years of community organizing. Over the decades, RB has grown and now serves a national audience. What are the dreams and the challenges? This program marks the beginning of RB’s on-air fund drive for listener support.

Guest: Hugo Morales, Founder and Co-Executive Director, Radio Bilingüe, Fresno, CA.

Public Broadcasting in the Crosshairs. Republicans in the U.S. Congress are targeting the Corporation for Public Broadcasting and considering defunding public radio and television. A vote on the final bill is expected this week in both the Senate and the House. Why are conservatives trying to end public broadcasting? How are current efforts to defund public broadcasting threatening the survival of bilingual community broadcasters? Who wins, who loses in this battle?

Guests: Samuel Orozco, Director of National News and Information, Radio Bilingüe, Fresno, CA; José Zamora, Regional Director for the Americas, Committee to Protect Journalists-CPJ, New York, NY.
