Prop 50: The Debate Heats Up.
As the first ballots begin arriving in California mailboxes, the debate over Proposition 50 — the Election Rigging Response Act — is intensifying. The nation is watching as California voters will have the final say in this battle over redistricting and control of the U.S. Congress. After Texas, at Trump’s request, redrew its political map to add five new congressional seats for Republicans, California leaders are asking voters to approve a plan to counterbalance that move. What’s at stake? This is a bipartisan debate, part of a special series leading up to the November 4 election.
Guests: Hector Barajas, Spokesperson, “No on Prop. 50” Campaign, Sacramento, CA; Xavier Becerra, Former Secretary of Health and Human Services, Candidate for governor of California, Sacramento, CA.
What Do Latino Voters Think? In California, more than eight million Latinos are eligible to vote, giving them the power to determine electoral outcomes across the state. Yet, their voices are often overlooked. This time, a polling agency surveyed Latino voters to gauge their views on redistricting, the gubernatorial race, and their top concerns. A spokesperson from the survey team breaks down the key findings.
Guests: Claudia Rodríguez, Project Director, BSP Research, Los Angeles, CA; Daniela Rodriguez, Reporter at Radio Bilingüe, UC Berkeley Fellow, Fresno, CA.
