Prop. 50: Countdown Begins

TUESDAY, OCTOBER 21
PROGRAM #10933 11:00 PM PT
Prop. 50: Countdown Begins.
Through Proposition 50—also known as the Election Rigging Response Act—California Democrats aim to counter Texas’ newly redrawn congressional map, which could give Republicans national control of Congress. Former President Obama has endorsed the measure, while former Republican House leader Kevin McCarthy is actively campaigning against it. Prominent political figures debate the central claim: “Democracy is at stake.”
Guests: Patricia Sinay, Representative of the “No to Prop. 50” campaign, Chief Strategist, Community Investment Strategies (*though she serves on the California Citizens Redistricting Commission, she is not speaking today in that capacity), San Diego, CA; Isuri Ramos, Representative of the “Yes to Prop. 50” campaign, Executive Director, Chispa OC, Santa Ana, CA.
Early Voting and Voter Rights in California. Voting is underway for California’s November 4 special election. Civic leaders are urging residents to vote early, anticipating delays due to changes in the postal system. They are also raising awareness about laws prohibiting election interference and voter intimidation. A policy analyst provides an overview of key laws governing early and Election Day voting.
Guest: Angelica Salceda, Attorney and Director of the Democracy, Speech, and Technology Project, ACLU of Northern California, San Francisco, CA.
