WEDNESDAY, JUNE 3
PROGRAM #11160 12:00 PM PT
Primary Results and Takeaways.
The day after primaries in California, New Mexico, New Jersey, and three other states, reporters bring the first results and analysts share their takeaways. Who came out on top in the most hotly contested races? What role did Latino voters play, and how strong was their turnout? And how does November’s election now look?
Guests: Araceli Martinez, Reporter, Los Angeles, CA; David Ayon, Political Analyst, Researcher at the Center for the Study of Los Angeles and Author, Oakland, CA.
Opening the Door to More “Forever Chemicals” in Drinking Water. For the first time in its history, the EPA is proposing to eliminate federal drinking water protections against toxic substances known as “forever chemicals,” or PFAS — chemical compounds linked to cancer, immune system problems, harm to babies during pregnancy, and other health risks. Tens of millions of residents in the United States are exposed to these contaminants. What do the new rules entail? Are they legal? What risks do they pose to public health? Why are they called forever chemicals? What is the scope of the measure, and why are advocates raising alarms? How can people protect themselves from contaminated water?
Guest: Dr. Gredia Huerta-Montanez, Pediatrician, Professor of Environmental Medicine and Pediatrics, Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai-ISMMS, Guaynabo, Puerto Rico.
