New York state will ban gas stoves and furnaces from most new homes and buildings by as early as 2026 under a new measure passed by lawmakers. New York is the first state in the country to ban natural gas appliances. States like Washington, Colorado and Maryland have approved measures restricting the use of gas and fossil fuels in buildings. Why is New York’s measure important? What’s wrong with gas?
