Mobilizing the Latino Vote

WEDNESDAY, AUGUST 19
PROGRAM #11242 12:00 PM PT
Mobilizing the Latino Vote.
Four of the most important Latino organizations in the U.S. are joining forces for the first time to mobilize the more than 36 million Latinos eligible to vote. The 2026 Latino Civic Coalition is a nonpartisan alliance aimed at educating and coordinating action ahead of the November elections, recognizing the decisive role this electoral force can play in shaping Congress and local races. What is the plan? How did this coalition come together? And in which races can Latino voters make the difference?
Guest: Katherine Pichardo-Erskine, President and Executive Director, Latino Victory Project, Washington, DC.
Dr. Fauci in the Hot Seat. Dr. Fauci, who led the U.S. government’s response to the COVID-19 pandemic and became a target of conspiracy theories and disinformation campaigns, appeared before the Senate amid allegations of irregularities in the national health strategy. The scientist refused to answer questions, calling the hearing a political persecution. Republicans who control the committee recommended that he be referred for criminal prosecution. Who are the questioners? What accusations does he face? What was his role during the pandemic? What happened during the hearing, and what scenarios lie ahead?
Guest: José López Zamorano, correspondent, Washington, DC.
New Vaccination Schedule. Amid growing measles outbreaks and declining vaccination rates, the federal government reduced the number of vaccines recommended in childhood. The measure seeks to create three distinct vaccination categories, dividing immunization into shots for young children, high-risk groups, and vaccines administered only after the doctor and patient agree. What does the new order say? How does the new schedule compare to what specialized health organizations recommend? How are epidemiologists reading this measure?
Guest: Dr. Richard Silva, Pediatrician, UC (University of California) San Diego Health, San Diego, CA.
