During the signing of a law that toughens penalties for fentanyl trafficking, President Trump delivered harsh criticism against the Mexican government, claiming that cartels have “strong control” and that authorities are “petrified.” From Mexico, political analysts are asking: Why does Trump avoid addressing the rampant drug use and trafficking within the U.S.? Why is there no effort to curb the unchecked flow of weapons and money laundering heading south?
