FRIDAY, AUGUST 14
PROGRAM #112138 12:00 PM PT

Mexico Edition.

President Sheinbaum announced that rules are being prepared to regulate the use of cell phones and social media among children and teenagers in schools. The proposal is expected to be ready before this year’s back-to-school, to involve families and students and raise awareness. This comes as the use of artificial intelligence continues to expand in schools and in the daily lives of young people and adults alike. What are experts saying?

Guest: Dr. Verónica María del Consuelo Alcalá Herrera, Coordinator of the Psychobiology and Neurosciences field of knowledge at the Faculty of Psychology, National Autonomous University of Mexico-UNAM, Mexico City, MX; excerpts from recent statements by Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo, Mexico’s President; and Jonathan Haidt, social psychologist and professor at New York University’s Stern School of Business, author of the book, “The Anxious Generation: How the Great Rewiring of Childhood Is Causing an Epidemic of Mental Illness”.
