Published October 16, 2026

FRIDAY, OCTOBER 16
PROGRAM #11302 12:00 PM PT

Mexico Edition.

Adelfo Regino Montes, director general of Mexico’s National Institute of Indigenous Peoples (INPI), speaks exclusively from Los Angeles about the national consultation to draft the General Law on the Rights of Indigenous and Afro-Mexican Peoples. This is a constitutional reform that would govern the territories, the administration of natural resources, and the traditional forms of government of Indigenous and Afro-Mexican peoples. In other news: the prominent Mexican singer and social activist Gabino Palomares, a pioneer of the Nueva Canción movement in Mexico and Latin America, recently passed away. Friends and admirers discuss his legacy. Additionally, Mexican filmmaker Francesco Taboada discusses his film “Obispo Rojo,” which premiered at the Albuquerque Latin American Film Festival. The documentary intertwines the life and work of Monsignor Sergio Méndez Arceo with the history of Mexico in the 1960s. These and other news are analyzed in this week’s edition.

Guests: Adelfo Regino Montes, Executive Director, National Institute of Indigenous Peoples, Los Angeles, CA; Francesco Taboada, filmmaker, director of the film “El Obispo Rojo,” Cuernavaca, MX in an interview with Raúl Silva.
