Mental Health and Faith Communities.

A shortage of mental health professionals makes it difficult for families to access the care they need. To help close this gap, the American Psychiatric Association Foundation is strengthening its work with faith communities through partnerships with churches, mosques, and other religious organizations. The goal is to help their leaders recognize signs of mental illness and guide people toward support and resources. What is the role of religious leaders? How are faith and science being combined to address mental health? And what are the challenges in accessing specialized care?

The Epstein Case: NM vs. DOJ. New Mexico’s Epstein truth commission released its first report, based on Department of Justice files and news accounts, with few groundbreaking findings. At the same time, the New Mexico Department of Justice has sued the federal government to obtain unredacted Epstein files that the Trump administration has allegedly been withholding. What does this first report reveal? What information remains under lock and key? And what is the commission ultimately seeking?

Eyes on Washington State. Democratic Representative Marie G. Pérez secured one of two spots in Washington’s all-party primary, despite criticism from within her own party. Known for breaking with Democrats on issues like immigration policy, she now heads into November, where she will face Republican state Senator John Braun in a race that is key to the battle for Congress. What did voters say? Why is this race of national interest? And what are the challenges facing both parties in this state heading into November?
