Marielena Hincapié

TUESDAY, DECEMBER 23
PROGRAM #10996 11:00 AM PT
Marielena Hincapié.
This program in our series “Treinta Años, Treinta Voces” features a conversation with attorney Marielena Hincapié, who, as executive director of the National Immigration Law Center (NILC) based in Los Angeles, became a leading voice in the national immigration debate and a central figure in the creation and defense of DACA. Hincapié led numerous legal and policy battles, including successful challenges to harsh anti-immigrant state laws in Arizona and Alabama, and a U.S. Supreme Court victory blocking the Trump administration’s attempt to end DACA. She reflects on that experience and on the current state of immigrant communities as she writes Becoming America, a book on the nation’s immigration wars.
Guest: Marielena Hincapié, Attorney and Visiting Scholar, Cornell Law School, Cornell University, Washington, DC.
