Los Angeles: A Model Against Drought?

Since 1990, Los Angeles’ population has grown by half a million. Yet today, the city consumes far less water than it did then—almost half as much. This has helped ease the Colorado River water crisis, as the river is a key source of supply for Los Angeles. How was this dramatic and extraordinary achievement reached? How did the city have to change? What is the future of Los Angeles’ water? This program, on the eve of the World Water Week, is the premiere of the second season of the series “Cuando se seca el arroyo.”

Guests: Marta Segura, Chief Heat Officer, City of LA Director, Climate Emergency Mobilization Office Board of Public Works, City of Los Angeles, CA; Laura Ramos, Director, California Water Institute, California State University at Fresno-CSUF, Fresno, CA; Samuel Sandoval Solis, Faculty expert, UCLA Latino Policy and Politics Institute, and Professor and Cooperative Extension Specialist, College of Agricultural and Environmental Sciences, University of California at Davis-UC Davis, CA.
