US Senate Approves Trump’s Budget Megaproject. The US Senate approved by the narrowest of margins President Trump’s fiscal and budget plan, which is now returned to the Lower House for review and final vote. The bill seeks to extend Trump’s first-term budget cuts, impose greater restrictions on government spending, and approve increased funding for defense and immigration enforcement.

“Alligator Alcatraz” Opens in Florida. A new immigration detention center, now under construction in a remote area of the Florida Everglades and surrounded by alligator-filled swamps, has become a symbol of tough immigration enforcement measures President Trump, who took a tour of the area this Tuesday. The facility has been nicknamed the “ Alligator Alcatraz,” a name that puts immigrant advocates on alert and alludes to the Republican president’s aggressive approach to deportations.
