Latinas Break Ground Caring for the Land.

Every day, more Latina women are moving from field labor to land ownership, becoming organic producers trained in sustainable land management, leadership, and clean agricultural practices. And what does their work mean for their communities? This program is part of the series “Cuando se seca el arroyo.”

Guests: Maria Catalan, farmer, Catalan Family Farm, and director and founder, Small Farmers Coalition in California, Hollister, CA; Celsa Ortega, farmer, Induchucuiti Organic Farm, Salinas, CA; Adelina Gonzalez, teacher turned farmer, MAAHS Farm, Reedley, CA.

High-Tension Days in Minneapolis. After federal immigration agents shot and killed a 37-year-old man this Saturday morning in Minneapolis, Minnesota, while he was participating in a peaceful protest against abuses committed in recent weeks during ICE operations, demands for justice and for ICE to leave the area by politicians , leaders, and activists intensified along with a new round of large-scale protests both locally and nationally. The case occurs just days after the death of Renee Nicole Good, who was also shot by an ICE agent in this city and whose case had already sparked protests and significant controversy. This is a report on what is currently happening in Minneapolis and the Trump administration’s plans in response to this crisis and ICE’s future actions.

Guest: Gerardo Guzman, reporter and program host, Atlanta, GA.
