Kamala Harris picks Tom Walz as running mate

This is the voice of Vice President Kamala Harris who made a video call to Governor Tim Walz of Minnesota, asking him to be her running mate in next November’s presidential election.

In the conversation she invites the former teacher and veteran to join her in her fight to defeat Donald Trump at the polls.

It will be an honor and she recognized the joy and enthusiasm that her virtual candidacy has brought to the country, for which she responded that it will be a privilege to accompany her.

He uploaded a video in which he talks about some accomplishments, he recalled being able to enact a number of broad social welfare programs, such as free lunch for public school students, increased access to Medicaid, greater protections allowing workers to unionize, and expanded paid family and medical leave.

In addition, Minnesota Democrats also succeeded in codifying abortion rights into law, increasing protections for transgender rights, passing a marijuana legalization bill and implementing new gun safety laws.

Tim Walz wrote on X after the news officially broke that he would be partnering with Kamala Harris is “the honor of a lifetime to be joining @kamalaharris on this campaign.”

“Vice President Harris is showing us the politics of what is possible. It reminds me a little bit of the first day of school. So, let’s do it, folks! Join us.”

So according to analysts Walz has become a popular and progressive figure in his tenure as governor and just his style and ability to articulate the concerns of both rural and urban voters make him a valuable ally for Harris in the fight against Republican Donald Trump.

In the video uploaded to social media he reiterated his privilege to stand with Kamala Harris, in his belief in the promise of America and its values and recalled Harris’ quote “that when we fight we win”.
