A Trilingual Mixtec Rapper from California Celebrates His Roots – Miguel Villegas Ventura is a popular Mixtec artist who uses rap to inspire and instill a sense of pride in young Mixtec indigenous people who immigrated or were born in California’s cities and towns. His stage name is Una Isu. He sings not only in Mixtec, his native language, but also in Spanish and English. Alejandro Maciel spoke with him during a talent festival in the San Joaquin Valley organized by the California Alliance for Traditional Arts. Trump Intensifies Tariff War Against Mexico – We are one week away from Trump’s deadline to impose 30 percent tariffs on Mexico. The president claims that the neighboring country has not done enough to stop the flow of fentanyl into the United States. President Sheinbaum has denied the accusations and expressed confidence that an agreement will be reached during the intense negotiations on the trade agreement, known as the USMCA. Given the uncertainty with its main trading partner, experts recommend that Mexico seek international arbitration and diversify its markets. Citlali Sáenz reports from Mexico City.
