Juana Hernandez, Mixtec Immigrant, to Preside Over Guelaguetza Festival – After making a life for herself in California, Juana Hernandez, a Mixtec migrant, recently returned to her native Oaxaca. In addition to her work, Juana was one of the hosts of Radio Bilingüe’s bi-national program “La Hora Mixteca.” Every Sunday, the program is broadcast live simultaneously in Fresno (California’s fifth most populous city) and on several stations in Oaxaca. During the traditional and internationally known Guelaguetza festivities held every year in Oaxaca City, Juana Hernandez was recognized with the Diosa Centeotl award.
