Health officials warn about “gas-station heroin”

THURSDAY, DECEMBER 11
PROGRAM #10985 11:00 AM PT
Health officials warn about “gas-station heroin.”
After several deaths were reported in Los Angeles, health authorities are sounding the alarm about the dangers of supplements containing kratom and 7-OH, a powerful opioid. Although these products can cause addiction, overdose, and even death, they remain available for purchase as “natural remedies” in gas stations and convenience stores—earning the nickname “gas-station heroin.” Local and state leaders in California are calling for sales to be halted and for kratom and 7-OH to be banned or regulated.
Guests: Nelson Esparza, City of Fresno Councilmember, Council District 7, Fresno, CA; Dr. Bernardo Ng, Medical Director and Co-founder, Sun Valley Research Center, and Member, American Psychiatric Association (APA) Council of Communications, Imperial, CA.
