Texas’ multimillion-dollar agricultural industry continues to rely heavily on migrant workers, despite the introduction of automation and a robust guest worker program. To halt the raids, which are leaving farms without workers and crops rotting in the fields, business leaders and activists have requested that President Trump support the legalization of their workforce. However, the president’s contradictory responses have created confusion and uncertainty, as Mariana Pineda reports from Houston.
