From Incarceration Back to the Community

Young people who end up behind bars have often endured difficult childhood experiences marked by neglect and abandonment. According to the U.S. Federal Bureau of Prisons, 20% of incarcerated youth are Latino. Once behind bars, they can face living conditions that limit their chances of successfully reintegrating into society after serving their sentences. What is the impact of growing up in prison? What educational or rehabilitation alternatives are available to minors?
