TUESDAY, APRIL 28
PROGRAM #11122 11:00 AM PT

For More Marine Protected Areas.

California marks Ocean Day as political denialism unravels years of marine protection. Activists and advocates are fighting to preserve and expand marine protected areas with a concrete argument: when the oceans lose their protections, families pay more for food, fishermen lose their livelihoods, and beaches close. What initiatives are they proposing? What does science say? And how are local authorities responding to this growing civic pressure? This is a special program from the series Cuando se seca el arroyo, supported by The Walton Family Foundation.

Guests: Marce Gutiérrez-Graudin, Founder & Executive Director, Azul, Sacramento, CA; Alhan Díaz-Correa, Board Member, Santa Barbara County Action Network (SBCAN), Guadalupe, CA; Janette Luviano, Director of Programms and Operations, Sachamama, Washington, DC.
