New Medicaid rules set to take effect next year will require recipients to demonstrate employment to keep their coverage — a particular challenge for agricultural workers. Advocates warn that, due to the seasonal and informal nature of farm work, thousands could lose their medical coverage even though they are eligible. How will the new rules work? “Poderosas 2026 Summit”. The annual Poder Latinx summit for Latina women took place in Atlanta, Georgia on 18 July. It was called the Poderosas Summit 2026. Every year, it brings together young people, Latina leaders, civil rights advocates, activists, students, entrepreneurs and community members for a day dedicated to leadership development, networking and civic engagement. Gerardo Guzmán had the opportunity to attend the event to witness the impact that summits of this kind have on Latina women in helping them tackle the challenges currently facing their communities in the run-up to the upcoming mid-term elections.
